Criticism

After a few years of working in a workshop and in decoration, ISA L. (Isabelle Laurens) developed a passion for collage, which is a difficult and ever so delicate art form into which she was able to infuse her personality as well as the narrative style of a surrealism that in turn rises from this passionate combination of materials and paint. Moreover, the artist’s creative rhythm and favourite tints brilliantly come together in her compositions, producing works with strange effects that are filled with discoveries. Matter and compositions unite to form surprisingly contemporary themes that, through ISA L.’s creative imagination, remain firmly conform to her daring vision. Her plays with words and with blocks, harmony of nuances, and definition of rhythms thereby bring a delicious unity to every work. And yet, whether structurally or historically remarkable, they are adorned with not only charming delicacies, but also boldly-placed impacts of matter and colour.
