Criticism

NANE is one of those artists who drew precociously as a child. She took an interest in everything that presented itself to her. NANE spent part of her life scouring museums and art galleries, discreetly measuring herself against numerous themes of inspiration. That was before she made the vital big leap and devoted herself completely to her art, after having acquired all the basics of drawing and painting. This is how great self-taught artists are born. Nothing could sway NANE’s determination, and she committed herself entirely to art as early as 1974. Hence her figurative style, which is transcended little by little by a wilful expression of decision, freedom and emotions. Her compositions are well structured, and allow the artist to side-step traditional realism in favour of a modern reality that is dynamic and appealing in its originality. With NANE, the precision of the characters’ movements is surprisingly harmonious, authentic and analysed. The same can be said of her harbour scenes and well-constructed landscapes, which are characterised by fundamental and at times daring colours, resulting in generous works whose discreet sensuality can nevertheless be perceived… This is as true of her brilliantly descriptive still-lifes as for her nudes and landscapes. The linear and chromatic core of her works leads the artist towards a suggestive and warm form of abstraction. And this is the fruit of her extensive talent, which in turn boldly and decisively reacts to colour and shape, brilliantly reflecting NANE’s artistic plenitude and personality.
