Criticism
By profession, painter Cyrille Blanc was a craftsman hairdresser. I have known a few such capillary artists who have stood out at exhibitions, such as JISSéBé, a daring surrealist drawer, and in particular the valiant painter from Bois-Guillaume, Roger Griboval, who quite rightly called himself the last of the Impressionists. It was he who, between two haircuts, would scout out potential painting spots with his friends Pinchon, Couchaux and Le Trividic... What fine references these are for Cyrille Blanc who, although far from the masters of the Normandy School, shows no less talent as a landscapist, taming beauty with his feverous and keen brushstroke. Painting does not happen by magic, and the artist has studied the sketch and watercolour with a discernment that tested his vocation and proved the accuracy of his choices, determination and passion.
Cyrille Blanc’s painting effects are not without merit in terms of activity, and they bring a hint of enchantment to his realism. His compositions are very personal, full of movement and daring chromatic ranges. He paints as one lives, with enthusiasm, and his brushstroke reflects this vitality in landscapes of all kinds, varying from modest gardens to broad seascapes. Vertiginous towns become virtuous under his brush and knife. Perspectives explode with light against backgrounds of iridescent and moving skies. While exhibiting in Manche, where he comes from, as well as in Brittany and Great Britain, Cyrille Blanc also teaches his style and vision. Nothing stumps him when it comes to art, whether it be climates, atmospheres, or the elements, through which he conveys his emotions which have in turn matured through work and drive.
