Criticism

Here I am faced with a fascinating juncture in a painter’s future, particularly since his career has been recognised for ages and has been punctuated with prizes and awards from the prestigious salons and renowned galleries that have exhibited his works, one such example being the Chaye gallery in Honfleur. I am talking about Marc Pevsner, a generous and enterprising man with an insatiable artistic passion. He is an exemplary self-taught painter who, whilst working as a respectful creator, does not hesitate to question the rather classical style he developed in his young years in order to express himself according to his desire, will and vision. Marc Pevsner has forged himself a soulful style of painting, one that is more expressive, radical in approach, and powerfully personal. Such are artists that subjugate reality to their mysterious creative processes, unleashing novel shapes and colours from deep within their beings. Marc Pevsner is establishing himself as a free creator through his often sizable formats and delightful characters. These, at times in inspired levitation, people strange and almost monochrome forests like recreated beings. Some are thoughtful, while others are bold adventurers, exploring the desires of the artist, who in turn grants them a life full of humour aboard improbable vehicles, as expressive fruits of a daring reverie.
