Philippe Fatus is a remarkable magician of the painting guided by the mind! Born in Montparnasse, and accustomed in his early youth to visiting museums, art galleries and arthouse cinemas before then participating in drawing, painting, sculpture and audiovisual workshops, he was cleverly able to filter what was valuable to him, and his practice of the different techniques has made him an experienced and informed creator. He is at ease and passionately open to everything that unleashes that precious complicity in the mind between mastery and fruitful research, creating a fabulous visual world and a reality that is transcended by poetic reflection and dynamic vitality. This pictorial bliss can be found in Philippe Fatus’s artwork when he imagines his either mechanised or ruined world interspersed with legends and historical and mythical facts. The context is very personal, displaying accurate and powerful references within an ingenious and exciting contemporary décor. Philippe Fatus plays with the past and places with a boldness that produces surprising references in a disillusioned framework. With brilliance and determination, he creates eloquent artworks that are the captivating fruit of a subtly majestic brushstroke. Yet his approach is never timid when dealing with legends, and can even be sensual and mystical in compositions that brilliantly combine imposing tradition and current conviction.
